Welcome to "The POLICE CONNECTION"

The POLICE CONNECTION, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, was created in 1999. Originally it began as a call-in radio talk show focusing on police officers and the public. It aired for several years in New York City.

Shortly thereafter, The POLICE CONNECTION added to its services a "Legal Defense Fund". This fund was created to assist officers in defraying their legal expenses not covered by their union or department, which in most instances can become very costly.

Following the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the scope of The POLICE CONNECTION changed once again. Most recently, there has been the development of the September 11th Fund. This particular project is perhaps the most critical of all The POLICE CONNECTIONS's undertakings, because it entails an initiative, which will need to continue for years to come (see September 11th Fund).

Peter Killeen, Director

Peter Killeen, a former Police Officer, as well as a former Franciscan Friar, has a fascinating educational background.


Peter holds a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD and a Master's in Theological Studies from the Washington Theological Union, Washington, DC. He is a nationally recognized stress management therapist, a nationally certified alcohol and drug counselor. He is founder and President of Killeen-Lyden Associates, Inc., a corporation specializing in the development of company-based Employee Assistance Programs.


   

September 11th Support Fund

Over the past few years since September 11, 2001 there has been a growing concern for Port Authority Police Officers and first responders from various police agencies with regards to the mental health of these heroic professionals and what the future holds both for them and their families.


   

The Police Connection Legal Defense Fund

The Police Connection Legal Defense Fund was established in 2001 to assist police officers that are in need of legal representation. Often the onus of financial responsibility falls upon the officer and his or her family.
